[Enterprise] 1.5 million tons in 10 years!
TotalEnergies has signed an agreement with Air France KLM to provide 1.5 million tons of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) over 10 years.
This agreement is one of the largest SAF procurement contracts signed by Air France KLM Group to date.
In 2022 and 2023, Air France KLM will be the world's leading SAF user, accounting for 17% and 16% of the total global production, respectively.
By 2030, Air France KLM aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions per passenger/kilometer by 30% compared to 2019. The group aims to achieve this goal through operational measures such as fleet renewal, eco driving, and the use of at least 10% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in all flights.
The SAF provided to Air France KLM will be made from waste and residues from the circular economy and will be produced through collaborative processing at TotalEnergies' biorefineries and refineries in France and Europe.
These fuel reserves will be used to provide fuel for flights operated by Air France KLM from France, the Netherlands, and other European countries. The development of SAF is at the core of TotalEnergies' transformation strategy to meet the needs of the aviation industry.
